Pop Concerts Take 66% of Korea’s Weekly Box Office Top 50

Pop concerts widened their lead in Korea’s performing arts rankings in week 39 of 2026, taking 33 of the top 50 places. Their share rose from 62% to 66%, a gain of four percentage points. This measures places in the ranking, not ticket sales.
Jannabi leads a pop-heavy top 10
Jannabi’s Asia Tour Final: Sweat and Stardust in Seoul ranked first, followed by the musical Elisabeth. A second Jannabi show placed third. Pop concerts occupied nine of the top 10 positions, including shows by Lee Seung-chul, Cho Yong-pil and Doh Kyung-soo.
Cho Yong-pil’s concerts appeared four times in that group, with performances listed in Busan, Daegu, Seoul and Incheon. The spread gives the upper ranks a broader geographic footprint than the Seoul shows at numbers one through four.
Turnover accompanies the larger share
Thirty productions were new to the top 50, among them both Jannabi shows and Cho’s Busan concert. Ten productions rose in rank and 10 fell.
Musicals held 11 places in the top 50, while plays held three. Dance, circus or magic, and traditional Korean music each held one. The week’s figures show a clear shift in the ranking toward pop concerts; they do not establish whether overall ticket sales increased.
