Korea’s Weekly Top 10 Box Office Revenue Falls 25.8% Despite New Releases

Revenue from South Korea’s top 10 films fell 25.8% in week 43 of 2026 (Oct. 19–25). Five films released on Oct. 21–22 entered the top 10, but the new arrivals did not offset the drop in overall sales.
Chiikawa holds the lead
Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island (극장판 치이카와: 인어 섬의 비밀) ranked first with ₩4.31 billion in revenue and 419,214 admissions. Its cumulative admissions reached 2,248,043. The Assassin(s) (암살자(들)) followed with ₩1.23 billion and 125,350 admissions, while new entrant Paradise Lost (실낙원) took third with ₩997.94 million and 102,780 admissions.
Revenue spreads beyond the top three
The top three films accounted for 56.5% of weekly revenue, down from 66.4% the previous week, a decline of 9.9 percentage points. Other new entries included Clayface (클레이페이스) in fifth place with ₩788.86 million and Still Shining (여전히 찬란하게) in seventh with ₩330.38 million.
The narrower concentration shows that sales were spread more widely across the chart. It did not mean a stronger market overall: top 10 revenue still declined by more than a quarter.
