South Korea’s box office lost momentum in the 37th week of 2026, with total weekly revenue falling 25.4%. “Odyssey” remained the clear market leader, but the top three films’ combined revenue share slipped from 80.6% to 76.6%, indicating that new releases and lower-ranked titles captured a larger portion of a shrinking market.

“Odyssey” stays far ahead

“Odyssey” ranked first with 8.94 billion won in weekly sales and 754,746 admissions. Its cumulative audience reached 10.78 million, giving the film a commanding lead over the rest of the chart.

Second-place “Obsession” generated 3.08 billion won from 289,710 moviegoers, bringing its cumulative attendance to 474,808. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” followed with 1.20 billion won and 138,394 admissions. The superhero film has now drawn 8.93 million viewers overall.

Together, the three leaders earned about 13.22 billion won during the week. Their declining concentration, however, shows that dominance at the top eased even though “Odyssey” remained well ahead of its nearest competitor.

New arrivals broaden the chart

Four films entered the weekly rankings. “The Drama” had the strongest debut among them, placing fourth with 483.8 million won and 48,845 admissions. Its cumulative audience stood at 53,631.

“Hope” entered at No. 8, earning 290.9 million won from 25,223 viewers. Its cumulative attendance of 4.57 million suggests the weekly appearance reflects its current chart position rather than the beginning of its theatrical run.

“Inuyasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across Time” ranked ninth with 211.9 million won and 19,595 admissions, while its cumulative audience reached 19,829. “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger” completed the top 10 with 179.9 million won and 16,130 admissions, matching its cumulative total.

The middle tier remains fragmented

Below the leading three films, revenue was distributed across several comparatively small releases. “Gyeongju Travelogue” placed fifth with 332.2 million won and 35,371 admissions, followed by “Sing Again” with 316.0 million won and 33,468 viewers.

“Bigwang” ranked seventh, recording 228.0 million won from 25,753 admissions. Across the chart, one film moved upward and three declined, while the influx of new titles reshaped the lower half of the top 10.

The reduced concentration among the three biggest films offers some evidence of broader audience choice, but the 25.4% fall in overall revenue is the week’s defining result. New releases gained space without generating enough business to offset the wider downturn.
